- Believes in ‘mothering the mother’ – they can enable and empower a woman to have a more positive and satisfying experience
- Supports birth in a range of settings – including home, hospital, or a birthing centre
- Has a good knowledge and awareness of the physiological birth process and the mother’s needs during this time
- Is not medically trained, and does not replace a midwife
- Can help partners have a more confident role throughout the birth experience – if they wish to
- Does not give advice, but provides information, and is a good listener

So short and realistic answer is No; no doula can guarantee this just as no one can guarantee their car wont break down or that they wont get ill.
During the on call period I always stay within 2 hours in reach of your choice of birthing place.
Yes, but at the most I currently only take up to 2 clients with over lapping on call period. I will even take on 2 clients with the same due date as the chances of both parents going into labour on their due date is less than 4% (only 4% of women give birth on their due date).

Most my visits can be booked in primarily during the day on weekdays or any time during weekends.
You can book me in for as many sessions as suit your needs (and dependent on availability). I recommend having at least a 3 hour session every week (or more) for the first 6 weeks postpartum to help you navigate the many changes in lifestyle and baby’s development over this period.
I believe the postpartum period goes for as long as you require. If and when you feel you need a little extra help managing life with your baby (even at 1 year old) you are entitled to get help.
